From live URL to clean Auto Layout in 60s: A DesignOps breakthrough.

Following up on my last post about AI making "loud" (and often wrong) assumptions about UX logic—I’ve been thinking a lot about the other side of the struggle. Even when we have the logic right, the manual labor of "re-creating" existing UIs for audits or redesigns is a total creative drain.

We’ve all been there: Your boss or client wants a 1:1 Figma replica of a live site by EOD. You spend hours taking screenshots, guessing paddings, and manually tracing layers. It’s 2026, and this "screenshot-to-Figma" loop still feels like it’s stuck in the dark ages.

I’ve been deep-diving into a tool called Pixlore, and it’s honestly the closest thing I’ve found to a "magic bridge" between the browser and Figma.

Instead of just "cloning" the pixels, it actually parses the underlying HTML/CSS code to reconstruct the UI into native, editable Figma layers.

Why it’s a game-changer for my workflow:

It understands Auto Layout: It doesn’t just spit out flat groups. It tries to respect the structural nesting, making the output actually production-ready, not just a visual mess.

Code-Level Restoration: It grabs the exact hex codes, typography scales, and assets directly from the source code. No more guessing.

UX Reverse-Engineering: Beyond just UI, it can actually help deconstruct complex user flows into Information Architecture (IA) maps, which helps fix the "AI logic" problem I mentioned before.

How it works :
You can just paste a URL into the plugin, or use their Chrome extension to capture pages behind logins (like private dashboards). In about 60 seconds, you go from a live site to a structured design file.

As designers, our value is in solving logical problems and making strategic decisions, not in being "human scanners." Tools like this are finally letting us focus on the Logic over Pixels.

I’d love to know—how are you all handling legacy redesigns or competitor audits? Still doing it the manual way, or have you found a better bridge?
