Got frustrated with how most "community safety" apps work — they require accounts, track everything, and never delete your data.
So I vibed out icemap.app in a weekend:
- No accounts - Just open and report
- No tracking - Zero user data stored
- Auto-delete - Everything gone in 7 days
- Open source - Check the code yourself
Used Leaflet for maps, vanilla JS, Node backend. The whole thing is self-hostable if you want to run your own instance.
Sometimes the best features are the ones you leave out. No login flows, no user profiles, no notification systems. Just a map where people can share what's happening nearby.
Check it out: icemap.app
What features would you NOT include if you rebuilt a popular app from scratch?
